Plan the trip in six stepsStart here
Six decisions, in the right order. Prices and schedules are checked against their source—but always reconfirm before travel.
Compare flights into Phnom Penh or Sihanoukville. Phnom Penh usually gives you more international options; leave a safe buffer before any onward ferry connection.
Flight planningUse Cambodia’s official e-Visa site. The tourist Visa T is currently US$30 for a single entry and a one-month stay; check nationality eligibility and passport requirements before paying.
Official e-VisaReach the coast by connecting flight, private car, bus or train. Leave enough time between your mainland arrival and ferry check-in—delays can happen.
Transport checklistChoose your island beach before buying the ferry. Operators use different mainland departure points and Koh Rong stops, so confirm both piers in writing.
Ferry guideUse the Hotels layer to compare bases. Ask the property which ferry stop, luggage transfer and final road or boat connection they recommend.
Show hotelsMix beaches, village time, mangroves, sunset, snorkelling and one or two night experiences without over-packing each day.

Compare an international arrival into Phnom Penh with a through-ticket to Sihanoukville. Build in a generous connection buffer and avoid a same-day ferry if a delayed flight would leave you stranded.
Ferries & piers
Common operators include Speed Ferry Cambodia, Island Speed Boat Cambodia, Buva Sea, Angkor Speed Ferry and GTVC. Mainland services can leave from Sihanoukville Autonomous Port or Ochheuteal/Serendipity Pier. Koh Rong has several arrival points, including Koh Touch and beach-specific stops.
Onward transport
Road taxis, resort shuttles, local boats and ferry transfers connect different areas. Arrange late arrivals ahead, carry enough cash, and ask your hotel about luggage and the final connection.
Visa scam check
As currently published by Cambodia’s official e-Visa service, Visa T allows a one-month stay, is valid for entry within three months of issue and normally takes three business days. Use only the government site ending in evisa.gov.kh.
